Swimming With Sharks: How Anesthesiologist Inventors Can Move Their Ideas Forward

Application Form

Background Information:

Beginning in 2014, a group of FAER Board of Directors members began work on methods FAER could use to support education and research in entrepreneurship. A proposal for a session at Anesthesiology, 2017 called Swimming With Sharks will provide education and networking for entrepreneurs in the specialty.

Description:

ANESTHESIOLOGY has a long history of innovation, entrepreneurship and close interactions between academicians, private practitioners and industry to bring new concepts to the clinical arena and better care for our patients. Using a panel format, inventors will present their innovation to industry experts who are involved in the development of such innovations to market. This session will educate the audience regarding the multiple steps involved in the process and provide resources for those who hope to advance their practice through innovation.

Logistics:

FAER seeks applications from entrepreneurs who have secured intellectual property rights for their invention(s) to present to the panel. Three individuals will be selected. Following brief introductory remarks, each applicant would present their invention within 5 minutes followed by a panel Q&A and discussion period geared to educate the audience on resources and processes appropriate to that individual in that stage of invention development.  All presenters must be an ASA member in good standing.
