Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship

Medical Student Information

Medical students with an interest in anesthesiology and research are encouraged to apply. Students must be enrolled full-time at a Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accredited medical school. Additionally, students must remain enrolled in an MD or DO program throughout the fellowship. Therefore, students who are currently in their last year of medical school are ineligible.

Medical Student Responsibilities:

  • Once accepted, communicating with the host department to finalize dedicated mentor(s) and the project.
  • Full-time (40 hours weekly) commitment to the fellowship.
  • Actively participating in research and didactic activities at the host department/institution.
  • Participating in 15-percent clinical anesthesia exposure (such as OR, Pain, OB, Critical Care).
  • Making a presentation at a didactic activity.
  • Completing a post-fellowship survey.
  • Completing future surveys from FAER regarding current professional activities.
  • (Optional) Presenting research findings based on the MSARF research project at the FAER MSARF Symposium at the American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting in October. For more details, go to www.faer.org/programs/students/msarf.html .
